sustainability - our commitment to conservation
At Harring Doors, we understand the importance of our environment and our responsibility for conserving our natural resources. Being a leader in the wood Stile and Rail industry necessitates a commitment to providing products that are not only environmentally friendly, but products that are assured to be sustainable. Harring Doors has implemented policies and procedures to avoid sourcing illegally harvested wood, wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights, wood harvested in forests where high conservation values are threatened by management activities, wood harvested in forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use and finally wood from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted.
Our commitment is assured through our Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification by the Scientific Certification Systems - an independent third party certification body. The FSC is a voluntary market mechanism through which forests are certified against a strict set of environmental and social standards (Forest Management Certification) and all producers and manufacturers along the supply chain are certified to ensure that the final product bearing the FSC logo actually originated from a certified forest. Harring Doors has been certified since 2007 to deliver FSC certified products, upon request, to our customers under the FSC chain of custody standard.
FSC certification also ensures contributions to points under the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System. The USGBC is a national, non-profit organization that promotes the design, construction, and operation of buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. Harring Door's FSC certification allows our products to contribute to the certified wood LEED credits under the materials and resources category.
